The problem with this software is not that it doesn’t do what it’s intended to do. It mostly does. The issue is that it does it less well than other freeware programs available. I came into contact with the software when my friend called me to help him repair his computer which had developed a whole host of problems after he upgraded from XP to Vista. He needed to fix his boot log, as well as repair some registry entries. He had attempted to do that with Fix-It Utilities, but had not had any success. I’ve always used to excellent free ware apps for these types of fixes, both available as free downloads. For registry fixes, I’ve always used Ccleaner with great results. For boot load problems, I’ve always used EasyBCD.
Long story short, Fix-it was able to repair most of the registry problems, but even after it had concluded its auto repair, CCleaner was able to locate additional problems and repair them. Fix-It was NOT able to fix the boot problem, while EasyBCD fixed it immediately.
In my opinion, this is a collections of applications that are all of average quality. They might be worth buying for someone who does not want to take the time to download free (and often better) alternatives. There is some value to having a suite of software that will do a number of useful tasks and make it simple, (virus scan, registry fixes, disk de-frag, internet history eraser, etc.) but I believe there are freeware applications that do all of these things extraordinarily well, so for me, I prefer to use those much less expensive programs.
