What Every PC User Should Know About Free Adware Removal Software

by Matt Jones on May 13, 2009

The majority of computers in use today have become infected, to one degree or another, by adware. As a result, the popularity of free adware removal programs available for download from the internet is not surprising.

Getting something for free is always appealing, especially when we think it’s going to benefit us in some way. What could be more beneficial than removing frustrating adware from our PC? Often many PC users are willing to pay to remove the ads and their associated software, but if they can do it for free, even better.

And, there’s no obligation. There’s no cost. These adware removers all promise the same thing. There’s no difference between them. But that’s not right. These removal programs are not all equal. Some are better than others. It’s time to to stop and do your research. Which one is best for you?

In choosing an adware removal software program, it is crucial that the program do exactly what the claims say it will do – no more and certainly no less. But here’s the problem. There’s a list of surprises that this software brings with it.

The biggest drawback is probably the most unexpected – free adware removal tools can sometimes install their own adware and spyware onto your PC! While it may detect and even destroy any other adware programs, it can install its own at the same time. A complete waste of time, and something that won’t happen if you opt for a good-quality paid adware removal tool.

Next, that removal software program may just have a big BUT attached. The software busily scans your PC for adware and finds most of it. The BUT part is that they locate the intruding software BUT they don’t remove it. They just provide you with a list of what’s hiding in your computer, along with their charges for doing the removal. Now, you must either pay them their fee or start all over again with a different download. You might have been better off doing your research and possibly paying for a program that does the whole job.

One more shortcoming in this free software is that it doesn’t always do the job. It can miss a lot of the adware that’s sitting on your PC. Once again, time and effort is wasted looking for and using a free program that just didn’t work.

However, although you need to be careful which free adware removal software you use, as long as you pick the right one it can be just as beneficial as a paid version. Always read reviews, ask friends or experts for recommendations, and above all get your free downloads from a reputable source. As long as you take precautions, free adware removal software can be hugely beneficial to you and your PC.
