Anti-virus Updates

by Susan Reynolds on October 21, 2009

When you decide to get an anti-virus program for your computer, it is recommended that you do an extensive research of all current anti-virus software to establish which one is best for you. Some of the good sources of information include asking friends and family who are more technical than you are. There are also different tech-related forums that can provide you with the right information about anti-virus programs available in the market.

After deciding you went to a local computer shop or ordered the program from an anti-virus website. Following installation you allow the program to run constantly while you continue with your normal PC activities. You feel confident that with your new software that your computer will be fully protected from any malicious software such as viruses, Trojan horses, worms and malware.

However, your computer has other plans in store for you and out of no where crashes, leaving you to realize too late that it was infected by a virus and this virus cleaned out your entire hard drive, erasing your one year old child’s first camcorder recorded footsteps and your presentation for a client you were dying to work with, a presentation a month in the making.

You rack your brain for where you made a mistake. You feel you purchased the best quality anti-virus program available and you had even used the program for the past few days. How did you mess up? Sadly enough, you forgot to do the one thing that was vital to maintaining your computer’s health.

To check for any anti-virus updates. After buying anti-virus software, it is highly recommended that you check for all possible updates often, as often as daily therefore what you want to do is put your anti-virus update to update things automatically. Many programs already have this feature turned on, however some softwares are left on manual mode meaning you may want to check your manual to be sure.

Why update my newly bought software? Due to the frequency of new malicious software inventions your brand new anti-virus software quickly becomes obsolete. Anti-virus updates keep your software up to date on the latest of malware, viruses, worms and Trojan horses.

As soon as your anti-virus software is made up to date, you can truly feel that your personal computer is safe from an immeasurable amount of internet damage. Although there are programs out there that boast intelligence that is far superior to most even the nature of a virus is not embedded in their knowledge, as long as viruses continue to act as we know them to, they are our prey ready for deletion, or cleansing, or even deemed for vault banishment depending on what you would prefer. This is unfortunately a hit-or-miss deal seeing as you can only cross your fingers that the new viruses continue with the same pattern of damage as the ones before it. Routinely running your anti-virus program will make you feel much more comfortable and prepared to fight off all the worms, viruses, and Trojans the web is crawling with.
